America’s chief source of inequality? The Marriage Gap.
Kay S. Hymowitz
For a while it looked like Hurricane Katrina would accomplish what the NAACP never could: reviving civil rights liberalism as a major force in American politics. There it was for the whole world to see: the United States was two nations, one rich, one poor and largely black, one driving away in the family SUV to sleep in the snug guest rooms of suburban friends and relatives, the other sunk in the fetid misery of the Superdome. Newsweek, echoing Michael Harrington’s 1962 landmark book that ignited the War on Poverty, titled its Katrina coverage “The Other America” and warned the nation not to return to the “old evasions, hypocrisies, and not-so-benign neglect” of the “problems of poverty, race, and class.”
Though that liberalism revival only lasted for about five minutes, the post-Katrina insight was correct. There are millions of poor Americans, living not just in down-on-your-luck hardship but in entrenched, multigenerational poverty. There is growing inequality between the haves and the have-nots. And there are reasons to worry whether the American dream is within the reach of all.

So, this study implies that if both have a degree and both spouses come from intact families, they have a less than 10% chance of going through divorce. Only, uneducated white trash from the trailer park gets divorced (Afro’s don’t usually marry anymore).

Really, this article is hard to refute. It makes a lot of sense. I’ll bet divorce is pretty unlikely if you just find someone with a decent background

People who are lazy and stupid in school, more often than not are lazy and stupid in adult life. It is just that slacking off in your earlier years makes like a lot more difficult for you later on in life, than say 30 years ago where you could just punch in at a 9 to 5 manufacturing job and earn a decent standard of living. Trying to better yourself through education or taking good care of yourself didn’t matter as much, since you could go to a bar every night and get drunk, show up to work with a hangover, and still get your work done.
In a knowledge based economy, people who slack off in life and have substance abuse problems fall even farther behind and the single-parent family is notorious for raising underachievers, criminals, welfare cases, and people with substance abuse problems.
In terms of women, generally smarter women (not necessarily feminist women who slutted away in their college years and got a degree in some easy major like psychology), generally make smarter choices with their life. My GF right now has both an engineering degree and a computer science degree (a rarity for a female in today’s world) and one thing I like about her is that she doesn’t make a lot of dumb decisions in her life (especially at my expense) that some of my past girlfriends would make that would drive me crazy.
Of course college educated women infected with feminism or who happen to be in careers like sales (which is just prostitution by another name), should be avoided at all costs, but the truly smart women who know feminism is a bunch of made-up baloney without merit, I think are far better candidates for marriage than your typical STD infested club hopper whose only interest in life is to party, party, party.

….This article STILL does not address the fact the a lot of AW are repugnant asses!!!
You are fools if you believe that college educated women are less likely to divorce you and take what you worked for. In fact, it is college where feminism, whoring and lesbianism takes hold of young women to produce a society of greedy and callous women.
Go on ANY dating site and one will see women asking for men with college credentials because they know he is more likely to earn more money than a less educated man while many of these very women have nothing of the sort themselves. An educated woman, a ghetto woman and house wife all have one trick on their side……The VAGINA!!!
Marriage is in decline due to dangerous divorce laws, easier access to non marital sex and needless consumerism by the self entitled wife!!!

***But most of those divorces will involve women who have always shopped at Wal-Mart. “[T]he rise in single-parent families is concentrated among blacks and among the less educated,” summarize Ellwood and Jencks. “It hardly occurred at all among women with a college degree.”***
So why is the marriage strike mainly a middle to upper middle class white male phenomenon???
This sound like some desperate idiot who thinks people are not aware of women in general in the USA. The solution sounds as simple as going to any college and picking the best woman around or snagging a high priced shop-a-holic at Macy’s and life will be just grand.
I give many black women credit despite their foul minds in that they are honest about not wanting you if you cant spend money on them. Many white and asian women play games to fool men into thinking they love them but it is the money that is most relevant and men find this out after hellish bills and divorce court. I guess their beauty gets them ahead than other women who are not considered popular by demand.
Most American women irregardless of race, creed or color can eat aligator shit for all I care!!

What happens when female college graduates outnumber male grads by a margin of 2 to 1? This is about to occur. We allowed leftists to feminize our K-12 school system, and boys are getting crushed.
This could reverse the historic supply and demand equation between the sexes. Educated men will be the minority.
If men have already figured out that we have the upper hand, then this could explain why educated males are avoiding marriage. It makes no sense for men to agree to submit to an unfair matrimonial contract if the law of supply and demand is tilting in our favor.
If a large oversupply of intelligent and educated women in their twenties is about to appear, then educated older men would be fools to marry women their own age. They would literally be selling themselves short.
If the trend continues, then there should be an excess supply of female grads indefinitely. Educated men will be able to pick and choose, and the ladies will continue to be at a disadvantage.
Educated men now have one more excellent reason to avoid marriage indefinitely.

What will happen? The economy will sink into the toilet, that’s what. Men are universally more intelligent and more productive than women (I’ve already explained in detail why this is so previously). Therefore, as fewer men obtain college/graduate diplomas, the country will sink further and further into oblivion. That’s what will happen. Women with college degrees amount to little more than a socioeconomic burden. In a way it’s a good thing that the system is bankrupting itself, because it will implode that much sooner.

I totally agree with you on this point. As a small example.
“In related news, Business Roundtable President John Castellani on Thursday said that the group will ask Congress to reform Medicare and Medicaid in 2006, CQ Today reports. Castellani said that the programs “need to be addressed” because the “cost pressure they are putting on the country is unsustainable”
Limiting ourselves to Medicare… who will pay for these programs as the Boomers retire? With the number of Men in college at 49(?)% and declining… will we have enough workers for our “information economy?”
I don’t know. And most people really don’t care where we get the money from.
