Yesterday (Thursday) Mullah Krekar, the alleged leader of the Islamist group Ansar al-Islam who has been living in Norway as a refugee since 1991, said that the publication of the Muhammad cartoons was a declaration of war. “The war has begun,” he told Norwegian journalists. Mr Krekar said Muslims in Norway are preparing to fight. “It does not matter if the governments of Norway and Denmark apologize, the war is on.”
Islamist organizations all over the world are issuing threats towards Europeans. The Islamist terrorist group Hizbollah announced that it is preparing suicide attacks in Denmark and Norway. A senior imam in Kuwait, Nazem al-Masbah, said that those who have published cartoons of Muhammad should be murdered. He also threatened all citizens of the countries where the twelve Danish cartoons [see them all here, halfway down the page] have been published with death.
It is important, however, to stress again that there are Muslims of great courage. While it is risky to publish the Muhammad cartoons in Europe, it is even riskier to do so in the Middle East. Yet the Jordanian independent tabloid al-Shihan published three of the twelve Muhammad cartoons yesterday. The editor of al-Shihan, Jihad al-Momani, said he decided to publish the cartoons to show what the issue was all about. In an editorial under the headline “Muslims of the world, be reasonable” he pointed out that Jyllands-Posten had apologized for offending Muslims. He deplored that few in the Islamic world seem to be willing to listen to this. “What brings more prejudice against Islam, these caricatures or pictures of a hostage-taker slashing the throat of his victim in front of the cameras or a suicide bomber who blows himself up during a wedding ceremony in Amman?” the editor asked.
The spokesman of the Jordanian government, however, said that the editor had done a great mistake by publishing the cartoons and announced that the government is considering suing the newspaper. Before the day was over the paper’s owners had sacked Mr Momani.
Peter Mandelson, the EU Trade Commissioner, has criticized those papers which publish or republish Muhammad cartoons. According to Mr Mandelson they are „throwing petrol onto the flames of the original issue and the original offence that was taken.” The Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak warned that the decision by newspapers to republish the cartoons could encourage terrorists. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said he is worried about the cartoon issue. His spokesman said that Mr Annan believes freedom of expression should always be used with respect for religion.
This is not, however, the opinion of the French interior minister Nicolas Sarkozy. He said that the reactions of extremist Muslims towards the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, which published the original cartoons, and towards Denmark are shocking. Mr Sarkozy praised the Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen for his determination and defense of freedom of expression. “Freedom of expression is not an issue for negotiation and I see no reason to give one religion a special treatment,” Mr Sarkozy said.
Meanwhile the Muhammad cartoons have been published in a number of newspapers in various European countries. The BBC broadcast them in the news so that its audience would understand what the fuss is all about. The French newspaper Le Monde published its own cartoon of Muhammad [see it here] on yesterday’s front page. On Wednesday the editor of the French daily France Soir, Jacques Lefranc, was fired because he had republished the Muhammad cartoons. Journalists at France Soir defended Mr Lefranc’s decision yesterday by publishing a front page and an editorial defending freedom of speech. In Tunesia and Morocco, however, the sale of France Soir has been prohibited.
Yesterday morning armed Palestinians again surrounded the offices of the European Union in Gaza City, demanding its closure and an apology for the cartoons within 24 hours. They threatened attacks on all Danes, Norwegians and Frenchmen in Palestine. “We suggest that all offices and embassies of the three countries will be closed, otherwise we will not hesitate to eliminate them,” their statement said. Norway at once closed its consulate on the West Bank for the public, but has not yet decided to withdraw its staff. On Thursday evening Palestinian gunmen also entered a number of hotels to threaten foreigners. Many Europeans are leaving Palestine before the Cartoon War really starts.

I don’t have hope for Europe putting up much of a fight. I was talking to a guy from Norway today, he claims the US took the towers down that the Arabs were actually very sad to see the death and they all morned. I asked him about the coverage that showed Arabs cheering on the news of 911. He said it was staged by “American media propaganda.”
This guy also wants to see American fall apart, his stupidity when it comes to the bigger picture blinds him, I told him not to complain when an Arab rapes his daughter and beats his ass.

I believe the EU may be changing its “liberal” posture, but it may be too late. The damage is done: 100,000 Muslims in Denmark are there to stay.
Lest be forgotten, the international Clintonite ilk like the Danes and Scandinavians were overwhelmingly for bombing Serbia when it tried to defend itself from the Islamic assault. The Scandinavians were sending “peacekeepers”, monetary support to the Muslims, and vilified Serbs in the media. Similarly when Macedonia was raped; now Albanian terrorists that were on the State Department’s black list sit in government as ministers. Oh the lies and cynicism then in France, in Germany, in Scandinavia, and unfortunately in the U.S. ….

In the Saturday, 2/4 edition of the LA Times, traditionally liberal media commentator Tim Rutten wrote the following in response to the violent Islamic reaction in Europe:

This might sufficiently answer the question of just how bad would Islamofacism have to get before liberals in the west stop apologizing for it and start facing up to it. It wasn’t bad enough when they flew a couple of planes into the twin towers. It also wasn’t bad enough when they started chopping the heads off of hostages, or when they murdered Theo Van Gogh, or when they blew up commuter trains in Spain or England. But boy, when they start burning embassies and threatening to cut off the heads of artists over a few cartoons in a newspaper, then it’s time to get serious.

Why do you feel the need to try and silence people who are talking about a topic you don’t agree with. How is that any different from what you are: A) accusing them of being in using shaming and emotional tactics yourself in order to silence them, B) Trying to impose your will on the entire board by pushing them to talk about only topics you like.
You sound like an extremist who wishes to stop any discussion you don’t agree with. I think a board like this is meant to be a place where all views and all topics can be heard, how is any group to learn about what is going on if limited to one point of view of that world? Personally, l am getting impatient with the shrill distractionaries in this place. This place was prolly at its peak of the dont marry focus about 12-18mths ago. Its slowly going to shit. Too many muck rakers about now.

The liberal meme is so 1980’s, I think it’s time exiles or executions were visited upon both parties, as we’ve seen firsthand how poor conservatives of the west are at managing anything. They used a secondary war to distract imbeciles like these from the problems at home, problems a lot more destructive than some shitty skyscrapers crumbling. Okay, so Al Qaeda killed 3700 or so in one day. 3700 on a planet of 6 billion and rising.
3700… of a nation of 258 million and rising.
It was far more devastating economically than casualty-wise. And yet this pales in comparison, to the lost lives and revenue the cause this place is designed to fight, over the past 50 years. 50 years of policies like affirmative action, and heavily increased welfare for dead-end families. I guarantee the redefining of the word rape alone, much less the Rape Shield, has destroyed more US lives than Al Qaeda could ever do on their own. We have lost more money with a useless new bureaucratic agency, and with positively worthless ’security measures’ than was lost from the destruction and subsequent rebuilding of the towers. AQ won, because the paranoia of the neocons and their supporters over a phantom problem is advancing the collapse of the country faster than ever. It’s as much an invisible statistic as the child porn scares. Judging by ‘white slavery’ numbers one would be more rational to worry about their teens and college-aged children naively meeting people in their hobby groups, and regularly placing them under house arrest!
I am surprised most by the fact the New Orleans disaster and subsequent blame game has done more to reinforce you clods’ reliance ON the government, especially for as serious an issue of your own national safety when they SIGNED into law, a bill forbidding you from marrying a foreign woman. Are you children? Must your hands be held by everyone older than you so that you might not slip and skin your knees? Do you want to have every little choice made for you before you’ve even thought about it? All of you who wish other people to fight the war on terrorism for you, are subscribing to a world view so narrow and rigid the slightest breeze will snap you. When you come to and realize how cold and unforgiving reality really is, perhaps you might venture out of those desolate and gated suburbs of yours and see what’s really destroying the country you claim you love so.
